This project is a multi disciplinary initiative between the Department of Anthropology, Sociology and Social Work, the Department of Earth Sciences, the Department of Geography, and the Center for Appalachian Studies.

Our team has contracted with the Environmental Research and Training Laboratory (ERTL) at the University of Kentucky for lab analysis of sediments along with STL -St. Louis for lab tests on our water samples.

We are also partnering with Martin County citizens from the concerned citizens group, SAVE Supporting Appalachia's Vital Environment in developing our research design, collecting field samples and in consulting on other matters related to the project

If you would like more information about this Water Testing Project through SAVE please contact either Nina McCoy, Carolyn Bentley, Melania Preece, Mickey McCoy, or Mary Ellen Harmon. Contact Numbers 606-298-3591 (Inez High School). 606-298-4458 (Nina McCoy).
